!!Minor spoiler warning!! I found the platforming not too bad, but I feel like your stats are very weak overall. There was one dna upgrade that was too high for jump to reach, and it doesn't seem like there's double jump.
If you pick the wrong gun upgrades, I'm pretty sure there's no way you can beat Meadow (the mirror version of you boss). Way too much projectile spam from her and the hand summons, and I had inadequate damage to kill her summons quickly (I had 5 maxhp, 2 points into damage). I might try again going mostly damage.
The deer face boss is really hard. Took me 1-2 hours to beat him, even though he only has three attack patterns, because he just attacks so damn fast and there's very little room for error. That said, the experience was pleasant overall, though I think either the upgrades need to be stronger or more plentiful.
Amazing game. Art and gamaplay its weasome.
Like the game so far! Sometimes a bit frustrating that you get thrown back that far when you die, especially with tricky parts, but I like it so far.
One bug I found is that when you switch back from Luna to Root at the end of the hospital, you keep the max health of Luna (1 heart) instead of what I had with Root (3 hearts).
Now at the boss and I just think it's a bit too annoying, but I usually say that at first with boss fights. But as soon as the second stage kicks in, it feels 'unfair', too many things to watch out for without a real clear pattern.
Might give it a few more tries, but I'm not sure to be honest.
Also feels a bit too random that ... spoiler below ....
... you've been upgrading your gun to just simply lose it for the boss fight for no specific reason .
Thank you for your feedback. I liked the idea of adding more difficulty to the boss fights, but it seems not everyone appreciate them being more challenging than the rest of the game, so I'm currently considering what to do, maybe adding two different game modes.
As for your last point, the knife you throw at the boss actually uses the same stats as your gun (damage and range)
I think it's ok that boss fights are more difficult but it felt unfair to me the way it's now implemented. Did you see my bug report btw? It was in the post where I replied on.
Livid Meadow was made many years ago and it definitely needs some fixes. Among other things, I'd definitely rework the part you mentioned, since it can be quite frustrating. I also saw you tried the other games, unfortunately they're just small prototypes made for game jams and will probably be delisted, since they don't reflect the current quality standard
Actually please, I sincerely beg of you, do not delist these! My brother and friends have enjoyed travelling down the rabbit hole of NO-SKIN and if the other games that one references ever became unavailable, they would be so legitimately distraught! we've all enjoyed every thing we've seen from you so far and we would all be terribly upset if the extended media got taken down, since it would be harder to introduce our other friends to this beautiful extended universe you've created!
So thats why root is in noskin... How did Luna get the axe?
I AM TRASHCAN GAME!
boidid you know this game is evil. im about to pull out my hair
I decided to play this after playing NO-SKIN so I could learn more about the story and I am very happy that I did!
Gameplay:
Is there anywhere I can buy/download the soundtrack?
Played this recently, coming from no-skin. A very interesting and fun platformer. The art direction and symbolism and the story they tell are really good. I'm not entirely sure I readl it as intended and I still have a lot of questions but that's part of the fun. Makes me more excited to see where things go in no skin. Music is excellent, very different from what I'm used to in games. All around a really enjoyable time, short and sweet and the only real complaint I have is that the English translation is kinda rough, but I can't really fault any solo dev for that, and the dialogue still works pretty well
Could not get past spikes with raised platform I couldn't jump high enough to get onto
It's really strange! The longer you hold Z, the higher you jump. If that's not the issue, send me a screenshot of where you're stuck!
This game made me so nostalgic
Played after the NO-SKIN demo - games are incredible, keep it up!
This game reminded me visually of Momodora Reverie Under The Moonlight in the light effects and the strange red spots that faintly appeared on the screen from time to time, visually it is quite interesting and little by little it becomes more and more strange.
The combat style is initially more similar to Cave Story with a short range shot, although with upgrades it becomes a bit easier to shoot. The movements and jumps are very responsive, although I suppose that the initial discomfort in combat is fine to feel how it improves.
From the story... I'm not sure what's going on, it's like a combination of the Twin Peaks series with Momodora 1. A detective wakes up in the forest, her mind is confused but she's looking for clues of a homicide, but when she returns to Her hometown begins to have strange visions of the past together with a strange deer man, her companion does not seem to see anything strange, which makes us question the sanity of the protagonist. The visions get worse and the visions seem to indicate that what we see is not a memory of our own. Was it a past life or maybe someone we knew?
It matters little since when we hunt the deer man the world ends, fades and mixes while we end up in a kind of limbo or dream world where we find someone who is looking for us to recover whatever we have stolen from him. which we hang from a tree? Your identity which we replaced? In the end none of that matters, the world has come to an end and the mistakes of the past could not be changed.
Good Game
Made the finale
Made a video
so much in only nine megabytes! I like that the story sort-of answered questions, like there's an answer there just not spelled out for us. Last fight was hard, I counted sixty shots to end it.
I agree the best games on this site are always the ones with the small size
